Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph

A new front door for a 147-year-old mission, on the web and in the lobby

Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph has served neighbors across 27 counties since 1879, through food, housing, veterans services, workforce programs and family support. Its website had to serve people in crisis and the donors who fund the work, and once someone walked in the door, staff tracked their progress across separate systems. LimeLight refreshed the brand, rebuilt the website, and designed and built MyPath, a bilingual platform that follows each client from check-in to their next goal.

Two doors to enter

The new site starts by asking who you are. "I Need Help" leads to the programs, from The Market to Hannah's House, each with its own entry point. "I Want to Help" gathers giving, volunteering and community projects in one place.

A neighbor looking for rent help and a donor checking where a gift goes get different first pages, and both can call from any of them.

A brand refreshed, not replaced

Catholic Charities needed a mark that read clearly at small sizes and could not be mistaken for the diocese next door in Kansas. LimeLight simplified the primary logo, removed the skyline and tagline, added Missouri to the lockup, and built a sub-brand system so each program can carry its own name under the main mark. The refreshed identity went straight into the website's design system.

In our client’s words

“Development, Strategy and Account Management has been outstanding. Communications and follow-up has been the teams greatest strengths. A great partnership and so very happy we selected you and looking forward to continuing our relationship.”

A calendar that keeps itself current

Catholic Charities runs dozens of free workshops each month, from financial coaching to job readiness. Staff already scheduled them in Outlook, so the website reads that calendar and publishes each class on its own page with the date, location and an Add to Calendar button. When a class moves in Outlook, the website follows.

Each class also shows the MyPath points a client earns for attending, which ties the public calendar to the platform described below.

One home for the year of giving

The Hope Ball used to live on its own domain. It now sits inside the main site, alongside the golf outing, sponsorships and every other way to give, so a supporter who arrives for the ball can find the rest of the work.

Christmas Shining Star needed its own tool. Case managers submit each child's wish list through Microsoft Forms, and staff upload the export to WordPress. The site turns each row into a sponsor card and keeps the export behind a staff login.

MyPath: a clearer path forward

The website helps neighbors find support. MyPath helps them take the next step once they walk through the door. Moving from an emergency toward stability takes more than one visit. It can mean months of classes, coaching and appointments. Clients need to understand what comes next, and staff need a connected view of their progress. Catholic Charities tracked that journey across separate systems. LimeLight designed and built MyPath, a bilingual platform that connects client intake, goals, milestones and rewards with the systems staff already use.

Progress people can see

For a parent juggling work, children and bills, a clear next step can make a difference. MyPath helps clients see their progress and keep moving toward their goals, while giving staff more time to support them.

The journey starts at the front desk. Clients check in on a lobby iPad, choose English or Español, and complete an intake form or sign in with their client code. From there, they follow paths tied to their goals. Staff verify milestones, clients earn points, and their dashboard shows what they’ve accomplished and what to do next.

Built around the systems staff already use

Catholic Charities chose Bonterra Apricot as its case management system while MyPath was in planning, so LimeLight built MyPath to feed it. A completed intake creates the client record in Apricot. A verified milestone logs a service record there. Points move to PantrySOFT so The Market sees the same balance. Those records reach Apricot on their own, so staff do not key them in twice.

The intake form itself is built from Apricot. When Catholic Charities edits a question in Apricot, an admin refreshes MyPath and the client form updates without a code release.

Results

Catholic Charities now has a website its own team can update, a calendar that maintains itself, and a client platform connected to the case management system staff use every day. A neighbor can find help online, check in at the front desk in their own language, and watch their progress add up.
