The Solution

We approached this challenging migration through a carefully structured five-sprint process, completed over 10 weeks. Breaking from conventional wisdom that advised against pre-Black Friday migrations, we executed this transition to position Adidas Combat Sports for enhanced holiday season performance.

Comprehensive data mapping

We developed an extensive mapping system that served as the project’s foundation. Every WooCommerce plugin and feature was carefully analyzed and matched to its Shopify counterpart, ensuring no functionality would be lost in the transition. This included a cost analysis of new apps and integrations, giving Adidas Combat Sports transparency in their technology investment. 

We created product templates that mapped fields and attributes from the old system to the new one, along with automated versus manual migration requirements. The mapping extended to category structures and filtering systems, ensuring a seamless transition of the entire product catalog.

Custom theme development

Our development team executed customizations to create a unique and optimal shopping experience. We personalized the shopping experience on product pages using dynamic images that update as customers shop product options. We also crafted custom filter swatches that provide visual representations of product variations, particularly effective for their combat gear color combinations. 

Customized product detail pages prioritize key product information and create a more intuitive shopping experience. Additionally, we optimized category pages to improve product discovery and implemented a more sophisticated banner system that supports the brand’s visual identity.

Visual merchandising enhancement

Our visual merchandising strategy focused on elevating the brand’s presentation. We rethought their banner implementation, moving away from static, text-embedded images to a dynamic system, and added Custom product swatches to provide visual differentiation between product variants and improve the shopping experience.

The filtering experience was enhanced with visual indicators that match product aesthetics, making product discovery more intuitive. All product imagery was optimized for both performance and visual impact, creating a premium shopping experience that better reflects the brand’s market position.
