The Challenge
Cane River Pecan Company wanted a fresh approach to how they engaged customers online. Their existing website was clunky and unintuitive—not the world-class gifting experience they envisioned.
To bring their vision to life, they needed to:
- Eliminate manual inefficiencies in handling complex, customized orders
- Leverage technology to scale operations and improve customer acquisition
- Empower their team with a platform that’s easy to update and maintain
With these goals in mind, Cane River partnered with LimeLight Marketing to modernize their ecommerce infrastructure and deliver a frictionless gift-giving experience.
Our Approach
Migrating from Legacy Ecommerce Platform
Ask Cane River what kind of company they are, and they’ll tell you: a gift-giving company that happens to sell pecans. Corporate gifting is at the heart of their business. They needed a platform that could support multi-recipient orders, unique gift notes, and personalization, without the back-and-forth emails that bogged down their customer experience.
Their legacy platform, CV3, had served them for years but wasn’t built to handle multi-address gifting at scale. As the business grew, the platform’s limitations created operational inefficiencies and customer friction.
Intuitive Gift Giving with BigCommerce
Not every ecommerce platform is built for complex gifting. After a thorough discovery process, BigCommerce emerged as the clear choice for its flexibility and ability to support multi-shipment orders.
LimeLight designed a custom user experience that allows customers to:
- Effortlessly build and manage carts
- Save and reuse address books
- Add unique messages to multiple shipments
- Re-order with a single click
This self-serve model delivers a smooth experience for customers who know what they want while preserving a traditional ecommerce flow for those browsing Cane River’s premium pecan products.
The Process & Solution
UX and UI that keep the gifts giving
Cane River Pecan needed a unique experience that empowered users to effortlessly build a cart, manage address books, and build shipments with unique gift notes while retaining a traditional ecommerce experience for those wanting a taste of Cane River’s premium pecan products. LimeLight leveraged BigCommerce to design an enjoyable gift-giving experience to create a self-serve option for customers who know exactly what they want. Now users can manage their address book, ship gifts with unique gift messages to multiple addresses, and re-order gifts with a click of the button.
Order Management Integration
Cane River’s existing order management system, Mach, was a critical part of their operations. To ensure a smooth transition, LimeLight built a custom integration that seamlessly pushes order data from BigCommerce directly into Mach, preserving familiar backend workflows while elevating the customer-facing experience.
