Ten years ago, I took a leap of faith and started LimeLight Marketing with myself, one employee, and a handful of clients from my personal network. I never could have imagined the journey that would follow. Today, we’re a team of more than twenty serving brands across the U.S. and beyond.

I’m deeply humbled, incredibly grateful, and honestly a little emotional as I look back on the past decade, the successes, the challenges, the lessons, and most importantly, the people who made it possible.

Looking Back at the Journey

We began as a tiny team in a small town with a big dream. Over time, LimeLight has grown into a specialized ecommerce agency, moving from general digital marketing into a technically strong, strategically focused partner for brands that want to scale. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working with businesses of all shapes and sizes, from local companies to global brands, and it’s been amazing to play a part in their growth stories.

Successes to Celebrate

What I’m most proud of isn’t just the growth in numbers, but the people and the culture we’ve built together. Our team has changed and grown over the years, but we’ve worked hard to create a place where talented, passionate people want to stay and do meaningful work. That culture has allowed us to not only deliver great results for clients but also create a workplace where people thrive.

Another thing I’ll always treasure is the trust we’ve earned. Many people I’ve worked with in past chapters of my career came back and chose LimeLight to help grow their businesses. That kind of trust means more to me than any metric.

There have also been pivotal milestones that shaped us — forming a leadership team that allowed the agency to grow beyond me, acquiring Dev2 in 2021 to strengthen our technical depth, and adapting to the rise of AI that is reshaping our industry. Each of these moments stretched us and made us better.

Challenges and Lessons Learned

Of course, it hasn’t all been easy. The hardest moments have always been people-related decisions. Early on, I took it very personally when someone left LimeLight. I’ve since learned that change is part of the journey and sometimes we’re just one stop along someone’s career path, and that’s okay. My hope is that, whether someone is with us for a year or a decade, LimeLight can be a bright spot in their journey: a place where they learned, grew, and felt valued.

Those moments taught me some of the most important lessons: trust your gut, delegate sooner, hire great people and let them lead, and don’t be afraid to try new things, even if it means failing fast and learning along the way.

The Role of People and Culture

At the end of the day, we’re a service business and our product is our people. Every milestone we’ve celebrated has been because of the creativity, energy, and dedication of the team, both past and present.

Our values — We Over Me, Squeeze the Day, and Our Client’s Interest is Our Best Business — have been more than just words. They’ve shaped how we show up for each other and for our clients, and they’ve created the culture that makes LimeLight what it is today.

Evolving in Ecommerce

Over these ten years, LimeLight has evolved from a generalist agency to a focused ecommerce partner with strong technical expertise. We’ve built partnerships in the ecommerce ecosystem and leaned into innovation to stay ahead. AI has challenged and inspired us to adapt, and it continues to reshape the way we work.

A Founder’s Reflection

In the early years, LimeLight and I were almost the same thing. My identity was wrapped up in every decision and every outcome. Over time, I’ve grown alongside the company. I’ve learned to lead not just through the highs, but also through the trials. I’ve become more comfortable making decisions that put the greater good of the team ahead of what feels comfortable to me.

And I’ve learned to lean more on my faith. I believe I’ve been entrusted with this role not just for business success, but to serve people. For me, true success isn’t defined only by how big LimeLight grows, but by how I lead and serve the people I’ve been given the chance to lead.

Looking Ahead

The first ten years have been filled with growth, learning, and resilience. Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep building. Not just in size, but in strength, culture, and impact. I want LimeLight to continue evolving with the industry, to keep delivering measurable value for our clients, and to be a place that contributes to the goodness of people’s lives.

Gratitude

To my team — past and present — thank you. To our clients and partners — thank you for trusting us. To our community — thank you for cheering us on. LimeLight is what it is today because of the people who have believed in us, supported us, and chose to be part of this story.

Here’s to the next 10 years.
