Kelsey was proudly born and raised in Galena, KS, with an awesome mom and dad along with a couple of (she begrudgingly says) awesome sisters. She lived on the edge of the woods with lots of space to allow her artistic interests and big imagination to run wild. You might think that led clearly to her path in design. Yes, sort of, right after she spent a couple of years in LA where she was immersed in the movie and TV scene, took a part-time job doing background acting, and then met someone on set who was a graphic designer. That’s where she found the design and knew it was her calling and headed back to Pittsburg State University to get her degree in it.
“Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.” – The Dude
Today, she’s back in Kansas, married to the wonderful Coltyn, cultivating a small homestead/creative madhouse where pets of all kinds, hobbies of all varieties, and Call of Duty games where Kelsey “reks n00bs” are the norm. At least that’s what’s happening when they’re not traveling and enjoying great food across the country. She’s truly a lover of all things art and design but, even more broadly, an admirer of beauty — whether it comes in the form of wine, sunsets, or design.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Not making a choice is still making one. Being afraid only prolongs the inevitable, and if you don’t choose you could lose out on something great.
If you could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve,
GAMEAPALOOZA! Everyone could play all different types of games — board games, online games, whatever you want. The first game would be to pick a new name for this holiday.
Cats or dogs? Or other?
I’m a big animal lover so I can’t always choose a favorite. But I will say my dogs are basically my babies and every once in a while we get a rescue raccoon. They’re like dogs but can crawl all over you.
What do you want to make sure you do before you die?
It might be a clichè but, I have to/need to travel. I would love to go all over Europe, but I really want to travel through Asia.
