In 2016, we’ve seen the emergence of some really great trends (hello, video) and the exit of some awful ones (good riddens, pop up ads on mobile browsers). As a team, we keep a pulse on marketing trends that we use to keep our clients ahead of the curve. Below are the 2017 marketing trends that each of our team members are most excited about adopting and focusing on.
“I am most looking forward to the continued rise of native content as part of a company’s Inbound Marketing strategy. As ads are blocked or reduced in commonly used browsers, consumers will seek out product information in less interruptive fashions. Consumers already engage with with native content 53% more than banner ads according to Sharethrough. In 2017, brands already investing in Inbound will see success when they reallocate budget from banner ads to sharing their high quality content through mediums like sponsored stories and video placement on popular YouTube channels.”
–Jenni Breeze, Account Manager
“Integrated Marketing is the trend that I believe will continue to amplify to a new degree. Because people are constantly connected and content flows at us like a fire hose, integrated marketing that reaches the target audience multiple times across devices and channels will be key to cutting through the clutter and winning attention. Tools like HubSpot help us take disparitave marketing tactics and orchestrate them into an integrated marketing strategy in an organized way.”

Immersive Experience Content
“The trend that I am looking most forward to is the increase of immersive experience content. The two main technologies that are driving this increase are augmented reality and virtual reality. I like these technologies because they allow people to feel like they are living in the moment, rather than just seeing an image. The 360 photos are a way for people to see a very accurate representation of reality rather than a still shot that shows one angle or view of a place. Immersive Experience allows people to experience other parts of the world through their smartphone or laptop rather than actually being there. For example, live video is a good way for people to feel like they at events from the comfort of their own home, and a good way to hold companies accountable for true, honest broadcasting of their product or service.”

“There are SO many good things happening in the golden area of marketing that it’s difficult to find something to be excited about the most. For me, I’ll have to go with Big Data this year. Marketing/Predictive analytics has continued to enhance dramatically over the past few years, but I feel like very few companies are able to sift through the noise and apply data to their marketing. Most of the large scale actionable data has been limited to larger companies – it’s time for the smaller companies to get in on the action! The biggest potential disruptor is the use of Personality Insights with IBM Watson. IBM uses a person’s social media account to analyze a person based on what they say on social media, or what actions are tied to a social media account (mostly Facebook).”
– Caleb Smith, Developer
“I am most looking forward to the trend of dense content. I totally agree that everyone is being bombarded with too much content. It almost seems like a lot of businesses are pushing out content just to push out content. I believe that narrowing down messaging and information to only what’s important will help people retain the actual message better, especially those who skim. I find myself doing the same thing as I look through Facebook and other medias. I’ll click something and if it’s more than 4 “scrolls” down I just skim to save time.”
